The Old Perth Academy is on Rose Terrace north of the city center. Opposite is a green area that extends to the Tay . The north-east facing main facade of the two-story building is five axes wide. Corner projections emerge from the facade. The partly paired Doric columns on the upper floor are part of the classical design . The entrances on the two outer axles are closed with windows . The windows on the ground floor and on the outer axes on the upper floor are coupled to form triplets . A stone balustrade runs on the cornice . A clock is set into the central cornice . Above it rises Rhind's statue of Britannia .

The interior is relatively simple, but partly with stucco work . An octagonal classroom with a final dome on the back of the building is unusual .
