The Old River is a river in the extreme southwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

River course

The river has its source on the northeast slopes of Wayeninnah Hill in the Spiro Range in the southern part of Southwest National Park . From there it flows first to the northwest to Gorge Ridge . There it turns to the southwest and flows into Bathurst Harbor , and thus into the Indian Ocean .

The Old River and its tributaries run their entire length within Southwest National Park , a completely unpopulated area with no roads.
