Old Road Town is a town on the west coast of Saint Kitts in Saint Kitts and Nevis . The place is located in the area of ​​the Parish Saint Thomas Middle Island and borders in the east on the place Middle Island . The place has about 1,650 inhabitants.

Old Road is on the south coast of St. Kitts on Old Road Ray and Wingfield Wiver . There is a boat launch, Tyrell Williams Primary School , Verchild High School with a sports field, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church .

The main industries are tourism, fishing and agriculture. A local fishing factory was built by the Republic of China . The Central Forest Reserve National Park extends north of the village .

history

Outside the village you can find some petroglyphs of the Caribs , which were originally resident. Even the chief Ouboutou Tegremante the Kallinago had north of the village its main village. On January 28, 1624, the explorer Thomas Warner arrived with his wife Rebecca, his son Edward and other Englishmen. The settlers initially made peace with the locals, but later massacred the locals.

Thomas Warner mainly planted tobacco on the island and the colony grew. By 1727, Basseterre developed into the capital after the French settlers were expelled in 1713.
