Oleg Leonidowitsch Tschernikow

Oleg Leonidowitsch Tschernikow ( Russian Олег Леонидович Черников ; born October 15, 1936 in Gorky ; † February 6, 2015 in Nizhny Novgorod ) was a Russian chess player.

His greatest success was winning the World Chess Championship in 2000 in Rowy .

He received the title of International Master in 1985, the Grand Master title due to winning the Senior World Championship in 2000.

His highest rating was 2472 in July 2001. He won the Russian Senior Individual Championship in 1997 in Schaworonki, 2000 in Kratowo and 2010 in Lesnoi Gorodok.

At the European senior team championship in 2006, Chernikov won the title with Dostoinstvo Moscow ( GM Evgeny Vasyukov , Yuri Shabanov , Oleg Chernikov and IM Boris Archangelsky).

As a trainer he taught among others Alexander Baburin .
