Evgeni Andrejewitsch Wassjukow ( Russian Евге́ний Андре́евич Васюко́в , English transcription Yevgeniy Vasyukov ; born March 5, 1933 in Moscow ; † May 10, 2018 ) was a Soviet , later Russian chess player with the title of grandmaster .

In 1958 he was awarded the international championship title by FIDE , then in 1961 the grandmaster title .
Since 2010 he has held the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.

Wasjukow won in 1955, 1958, 1960, 1962 (shared), 1972 and 1978 the championship of Moscow .

In January 1976 he reached his highest Elo number of 2580. He was in 17th place in the world rankings tied with Vasily Smyslow and Paul Keres (Keres had died in June 1975, but his last tournament games were only for the Elo list from January 1976 evaluated).

In the World Chess Championship 1995 of the seniors won Vasyukov in Bad Liebenzell the title of senior world champion . In 2014 Vasyukov won the Russian senior championship in Lesnoi Gorodok .

Vassyukov took part in chess tournaments well into old age. When he died at the age of 85, he had an Elo rating of 2,400.

In the Soviet club championship Vasyukov played for Krylia Sowetow in 1954 , in 1961 for Trud , then for CSKA Moscow , with which he was Soviet club champion in 1966, and won the European Club Cup in 1986 and 1990 .

In the first round of the Aeroflot Open 2002 Vasyukov won against Loek van Wely . He received the award for the best game in volume 84 of the Schachinformator .
