Olexandr Serhijowytsch Horjajinow ( Ukrainian Олександр Сергійович Горяїнов , scientific. Transliteration Oleksandr Horjajinov ; Russian Александр Сергеевич Горяинов29. June 1975 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian football player .

Career

In Kharkiv born Horjajinow played much of his career in his hometown. After the end of the Soviet Union in 1992, he started with the fourth division club FC Olympik Charkiw and after just one season he moved to Metalist Charkiw in Premjer-Liha, which was newly founded the previous year . At the end of the 1993/94 season, Metalist had to relegate to the second-rate Perscha Liha . 1995 Horjajinow left Metalist and joined the first division club FK CSKA-Borysfen in Kiev . In 1996 the club was renamed CSKA Kiev (today it operates under the name Arsenal Kiev and still plays in the top division). In 1997 Horjajinow returned to Metalist Kharkiv. There he was promoted to Premjer-Liha at the end of the 1997/98 season. For four seasons Metalist reached a place in the top 10 of the league, but in 2003 it was only enough to place 16, which meant relegation to the second division. After relegation Horjajinow moved to Krywbas Krywyj Rih in order to continue to play first class.

Metalist succeeded in direct resurgence in 2004 and so Horjajinow returned in 2005 to his hometown club, where he has been guarding the gate ever since. After finishing third in the 2006/07 season, the club qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time in 2007/08 . From 2007 to 2012 Metalist reached third place in the league six times in a row with his regular goalkeeper Horjajinow and has since played annually in the UEFA Cup and since 2009 in the UEFA Europa League . Reaching the quarter-finals in the 2011/12 season was the greatest success.

On May 25, 2010 Horjajinow made his debut in the 4-0 win against Lithuania in the Ukrainian national team . Because the regular goalkeepers Oleksandr Schowkowskyj and Andrij Dykan were injured and Olexandr Rybka tested positive for doping, national coach Oleh Blochin Horjajinow appointed the Ukrainian squad for the European Championship 2012 , which took place in his own country. Horjajinow was not used in any of the three preliminary round games against Sweden , France and England .
