To keep the public informed, Karapetyan's son posted a report on his blog , asking his friends to share it on their blogs. Thousands followed the request, including Oleg Anatolyevich Tschirkunow , the governor of the Perm region. In February 2014, two men in Perm were sentenced to 23 and 15 years in penal colony for the murder of Karapetyan. The identity of the client for the murder could not be clarified. It is believed that the motive of the murder had to do with Karapetyan's professional activity.
