Krasnoufimsk ( Russian Красноуфимск ) is a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 39,765 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the western flank of the Middle Urals , about 220 km west of the oblast capital Yekaterinburg on the right bank of the Ufa , a right tributary of the Belaja, which flows into the Kama .
Krasnoufimsk is the center of an urban district of the same name .
The city lies on the Kazan – Ekaterinburg railway, which was opened in 1924 (line kilometers 1434 from Moscow ).
history
Krasnoufimsk was built in 1736 as the fortress ( Ostrog ) Krasnojarskaja , was subsequently also called Ufimskaja and Krasnoufimskaja , until it was finally given city rights in 1781 under its current name.

Culture and sights
Buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries have been preserved in Krasnoufimsk. There has been a local museum since 1912.
