Zarechny ( Russian Заречный ) is a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 26,820 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the eastern edge of the Middle Urals , about 50 km east of the oblast capital Yekaterinburg on the left bank of the Pyshma , a right tributary of the Tura in the Ob river system, which is dammed up here to form the Belojarskoye reservoir .
Saretschny forms a district of the same name .
The city is located on the Belojarsky railway ( Baschenowo station ) - Asbestos , a branch of the Trans-Siberian Railway, opened in 1933 . The station near the city is called Muranitny .
history
Zarechny was created in connection with the construction of the Belojarsk nuclear power plant , received urban-type settlement status in 1957 and town charter in 1992. The name is derived from за рекой ( sa rekoi ), Russian for behind the river .

Culture and sights
In Saretschny there is a museum for mineralogy, stone cutting and jewelery art .
economy
In addition to the city-building Belojarsk nuclear power plant located a few kilometers to the north, there are companies in the construction industry.
