Verkh-Neivinsky ( Russian Верх-Не́йвинский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Sverdlovsk Oblast in Russia with 5098 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is a good 50 km as the crow flies northwest of the Yekaterinburg Oblast Administrative Center on the eastern edge of the Urals , immediately northeast of the city of Novouralsk . It is mainly located on the right bank of the Neiwa and at the northern end of a Neiwinski prud, "Neiwinsker pond" called reservoir on the river.

Werch-Neiwinski is its only village and forms an urban district of the same name.

history

The founding year is 1662, when the first metallurgical plant was built there. The place name refers to the location on the upper reaches of the Neiwa, in Russian Verkhnyaya Neiwa. However, it did not become important until 100 years later with the establishment of the larger Verkh-Neiwinsker plant (Werch-Neiwinski sawod) from 1762 by Prokofi Demidow, grandson of the founder of the industrial dynasty Nikita Demidow and son of Akinfi Demidow . The plant started operations in 1767.

On July 23, 1928, Verkh-Neivinsky came to the Nevyansky rajon , based in the city of Nevyansk, 25 km to the north, and also received the status of an urban-type settlement. In the 1940s, a nuclear weapons factory with an associated settlement was built to the west of the village , which was soon spun off as a secret town with the code name Sverdlovsk-44 and today, as a " closed town ", Novouralsk is many times larger than the old Verkh-Neiwinsky.

Werch-Neiwinski was spun off as an independent urban district from the Newjanski rajon in 1995, which has also had urban district status since 2006.

Regional road 65K-1901140 leads to Verkh-Neivinsky and branches off from 65K-4103 (formerly R352) Yekaterinburg - Nizhny Tagil  - Serow, which runs about 12 km to the east .

On the eastern edge of neighboring Novouralsk, west of Verkh-Neivinsky, is the Verkh-Neivinsk station at kilometer 441 of the Perm  - Nizhny Tagil - Yekaterinburg railway, which opened in 1878 and electrified on this section since 1935 .
