geography
The place is located about 175 km as the crow flies northeast of the Yekaterinburg Oblast Administrative Center and almost immediately northwest of the city of Irbit in the western part of the West Siberian lowland , and about 2 km from the right bank of the Irbit River not far from its confluence with the Niza .
Pionerski is formally the administrative center of the "municipal entity" Irbitskoje munizipalnoje obrasowanije with the status of an urban district to which a total of 105 villages and rural settlements belong. In fact, the administrative organs of the urban district are located in Irbit, which is eponymous for the urban district Irbitskoje munizipalnoje obrasowanije, but does not belong to it, but forms an independent urban district municipal structure "City of Irbit" (Munizipalnoje obrasowanije "Gorod Irbit") .
history
The place was created in December 1963 in connection with the establishment of a large chicken fattening operation . The name is derived from Russian pioner for pioneer, a member of the pioneer organization Vladimir Ilyich Lenin . In 1968, a larger forestry company was added as the second local development company. Initially subordinated to the village soviet of Fomina located 2 km to the west, Pionerski received its own administration in 1975. It has had urban-type settlement status since 1989. On January 1, 2006, Pionerski was designated the administrative seat of an independent urban district with the separation of the city of Irbit from the former Irbitski rajon .
