Sukhoi Log ( Russian Сухой Лог ) is a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 34,554 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the west of the West Siberian lowlands , about 110 km east of the oblast capital Yekaterinburg on the Pyschma , a right tributary of the Tura in the Ob river system .
Suchoi Log forms an urban district of the same name .
The city lies on the railway line Bogdanowitsch - Alapayewsk (- Serow ), opened in 1918 . The name of the station is Kunara , after the tributary flowing into the Pyschma east of the city.
history
The village of Sukhoi Log (Russian for dry valley ) emerged at the beginning of the 18th century.
In 1847, coal deposits were discovered nearby , but these were only mined until the 1860s. A paper factory was built in 1879, and a large cement factory was built in 1913 , although it did not start production until 1930.
In February 1943 the place received city rights.

Culture and sights
The balneological and climatic health resort Kurji (Russian Курьи ) is nine kilometers east of the city .
economy
In addition to the cement works, the most important company in the city, there is a refractory material works , a non-ferrous metal smelter , a paper mill and a timber industry.
