Rewda ( Russian Ревда ) is a city in the Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 61,875 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the Middle Urals , about 40 km west of the oblast capital Yekaterinburg at the confluence of the Rewda in the Tschusowaja , a left tributary of the Kama . Just a few kilometers north of Rewda is the neighboring town of Pervouralsk , little east the boundary between Europe and Asia .
Rewda is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name . The city of Revda is subordinate to the city of Degtyarsk , about 25 kilometers south .
history
Rewda was founded in 1731 with the establishment of an ironworks . The official founding year is 1734, when the plant started production. On May 3, 1935 the town charter was granted.

Culture and sights
In the city center, parts of the wooden buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries have been preserved, including the residential building of the Demidow family . In Revda there are several museums on the history of the metallurgical works and mining in the city.
economy
In Revda is the largest copper smelter in the Urals, which has been in operation since 1940 and mainly processes ore from a deposit near Degtjarsk. There are also plants in the metalworking and chemical industries, as well as in the construction and wood industries.
