Olival is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in northwestern Portugal .

Olival belongs to the Vila Nova de Gaia county in the Porto district . The community had an area of ​​8.1 km² and 5800 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The place was elevated to Vila on April 19, 2001 .

On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Olival, Lever , Crestuma and Sandim were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Sandim, Olival, Lever e Crestuma .
