Oliver Dollar

Oliver Dollar , also Oliver $ (* 1982 , real name: Oliver Siebert) is a German DJ and house musician. He gained greater fame with the track "Doin 'Ya Thang", for which he used a sample by the Detroit musician Moodymann .

Career

Through his cousin Jan Driver, who worked as a producer for Boys Noize Records and Grand Petrol Recordings , Siebert came into contact with Progressive House at the age of 11 .

During the 00s he lived in Berlin, made a name for himself as a DJ in the fidget house scene and published on labels such as Man Recordings , Made to Play and Play it Down .

According to his own statements, he was about to give up his career as a musician when he achieved decisive success in 2011 with the release of "Doin 'Ya Thang".

With the musician Moodymann, whose sample he used for the track and who is known as the "legend", he agreed on a 50% share in the track's royalties.

His collaboration with the Swiss jazz house musician Jimi Jules is also worth mentioning . In 2014 they achieved a great success with the track “Pushing On”, which contains a sample by Alice Russell . At Beatport , a download portal for electronic music, the track occupied number 1 for weeks and also reached a position in the top 15 of the UK charts.

Siebert grew up in Barth , a small town near Rügen .
