Oliver Gottwald

Oliver Gottwald (born September 27, 1978 ) is a singer, guitarist and songwriter in German-speaking indie pop . The former front man of Anajo has been working as a solo artist for some time, but with permanent band members who accompany him in the studio and at concerts.

Life

Oliver Gottwald grew up in Schwabmünchen near Augsburg . In 2000 he and his band Anajo won the Augsburg junior competition "Band of the Year". He signed a writing contract with the music publisher Warner / Chappell and the band released several EPs . In 2004 the Hamburg indie label Mural Records signed the band. There they released four albums and were able to place themselves in the German and Austrian charts several times. Oliver Gottwald achieved nationwide fame primarily through his appearance at Stefan Raab's Bundesvision Song Contest in 2007, where he competed with Anajo for the state of Bavaria and sang the song If you only know in a duet with the singer Suzie Kerstgens ( Klee ) . The band reached ninth place.

In the fall of 2014, the band announced that they would “musically go their separate ways”. Oliver Gottwald then worked on a solo album, which was also released on Wallpaper Records in February 2015 under the title Zurück als Tourist .

At the end of 2016, he and his partner founded their own label called Favoritlieder Records , on which the singles Mustangmann , Stadt Land Fluss and Hallucinations have already been released. All three songs are part of the EP Favorite Songs . In addition, Gottwald has recently started working with a new permanent band consisting of Samuel Heinecker (keyboard), Fabian Schlegel (drums) and Ralph Stachulla (bass).

The single Stadt Land Fluss is the title song for the eight-part youth series “Stadt, Land, Bus” in KiKA , which was first broadcast in November 2017 and the final episode of the first season also featured an appearance by Oliver Gottwald and his band.

In addition to his own music career, Oliver Gottwald is committed to promoting young talent. He sat on the juries of the “Newcomer Contest Bavaria” and the “ John Lennon Talent Award ” several times .

On March 12th, 2018 the rapper Errdeka released the album “Solo”, after which the song “Funkeln feat. Oliver Gottwald ”can be found.

Oliver Gottwald was nominated for the Augsburg Media Prize 2018 in the sound category.

The Anajo song “My first real love song”, written and composed by Oliver Gottwald, can be heard in season 4, episode 9 of the American series Better Call Saul .
