Oliver Lodge
Sir Oliver Joseph Lodge (born June 12, 1851 in Penkhull near Stoke-on-Trent , † August 22, 1940 ) was an English physicist .
His greatest achievements are in the practical application of physics - he was a pioneer of radio telegraphy and designed spark plugs , vacuum tubes and loudspeakers .
Based on James C. Maxwell's theoretical work, he discovered the electromagnetic radiation independently of, and earlier than Heinrich Hertz and led in 1894 to the Royal Institution a " coherer " special detector called before it.
From 1901 to 1903 and 1932 Oliver Lodge was President of the Society for Psychical Research .
