Oliver Mackeldanz (born July 20, 1990 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player .

Career

Mackeldanz took his first steps in club basketball in the youth area of SV Pfefferwerk in Berlin. He then played for Central Hoops Berlin in the youth basketball league and for Future Basketball Berlin and WSG Königs Wusterhausen in the 2nd regional league. For the 2011/12 season Mackeldanz moved to RSV Eintracht Teltow / Kleinmachnow / Stahnsdorf in the third-class 2. Bundesliga ProB . After the season he was appointed to the team of the best ProB league newcomers of the year by the internet service eurobasket.com .

Mackeldanz moved to the Cuxhaven BasCats from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA after a season at Eintracht , where he also spent a year before he was signed by Bundesliga promoted SC Rasta Vechta in the 2013/14 season . In July 2013 Mackeldanz suffered a broken metatarsus and after recovery came to eight Bundesliga appearances for Lower Saxony, who missed relegation in the top German performance class. He remained loyal to Rasta after relegation to the ProA and managed to return to the Bundesliga with the club in 2016.

Mackeldanz decided, however, to join the newcomer to the BBL, Science City Jena , where he was announced as a new acquisition in June 2016. Over time, he developed into one of the team's top performers. Despite the team's relegation to the ProA, he extended his contract to 2020 in 2019. After the 2019/20 season , which ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , he returned to his former club WSG Königs Wusterhausen in the 1. Regionalliga Nord back. He signed a three-year contract.
