Oliver Owcza

Oliver Owcza (born July 2, 1965 in Berlin ) is a German diplomat who has been Ambassador to Libya in Tripoli since 2018  .

Life

After graduating from high school , he completed basic military service from 1984 to 1985 . From 1985 to 1987 he completed vocational training as a banker. From 1987 to 1992 he studied economics and European management in Cologne and Paris. In 1993 he joined the foreign service. From 1995 to 1998 he was employed at the embassy in Mexico City. From 1998 to 2000 he was engaged in political public relations for the Foreign Office in Bonn.

From 2000 to 2003 he was employed at the German mission at the North Atlantic Council in Brussels. From 2003 to 2005 he was political advisor to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons , Belgium. From 2005 to 2008 he was temporarily business agent in Abu Dhabi ( United Arab Emirates ). From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Head of Humanitarian Aid. From 2012 to 2014 he was temporarily business agent in Kabul . From 2014 to 2015 he was a fellow at Harvard University in Cambridge (Massachusetts) .

From 2015 to 2017 he headed the USA / Canada department. From 2017 to 2018 he headed the Afghanistan / Pakistan unit.
