Oliver Ziegler

Oliver Ziegler (born February 14, 1979 in Ottweiler ) is a German musician and filmmaker .

Life

Ziegler grew up in Neunkirchen / Saar . He initially studied musicology, psychology and philosophy at the Saarland University , but then moved to the Ruhr University in Bochum and later to the University of Mainz to study film studies, musicology and psychology.

From 2004 he worked for two years at the Saarland State Theater as an assistant director, evening director and stage musician. During this time he also directed the theater big band Titanic Disaster Combo , which released the EP Full Steam Ahead in 2005.

From 2006 to 2013 he worked as musical director and stage musician in various drama productions at the Saarland State Theater . During this time he also founded the film production platform Kaskade eV - Society of Independent Filmmaking and, as chairman, realized the independent cinema film ... and Exitus , the documentary Schlesiengrube, a local history , and the experimental short film The Last Satisfaction . ... and Exitus celebrated its premiere in 2011 at the Max Ophüls Film Prize , was among other things in the official selection at the Beloit Filmfest ( USA ) and received an honorable mention at the Jarkata Filmfest ( Indonesia ).

In 2007 he released another EP (Bag of Nightmares) with the project The Bullseye Baggies .

Oliver Ziegler has lived in Stolberg / Südharz with his wife, the actress and filmmaker Dorothea Lata , since 2013 . He works as a freelance musician and filmmaker.

He has been touring Germany with his solo project OZ since 2017 and has since released two new singles (Pain and Sad Santa) .

In 2018 he realized the documentary installation 95 - The Larouette Protocol , which premiered in 2019 as part of the exhibition " Dignity " in the Villa von Amsberg in Braunschweig as part of a working grant from the Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the Kloster Bergesche Foundation .
