Dorothea Lata (born January 30, 1982 Świętochłowice , Poland ) is a German actress and filmmaker .

Dorothea Lata was born in Upper Silesia / Poland. In 1986 she emigrated to Hanover with her parents . From 2000 to 2004 she completed her acting training at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. She then worked as an actress at the Thalia Theater Halle and then moved to the Saarland State Theater in 2006 . During the time in Saarbrücken, she made her first short film Yeah, Oh, Yeah . She played the female lead in the independent film project ... and Exitus and in 2013 she was seen in the Saarland crime scene Melinda .

In 2010/11 she spent in Warsaw and Upper Silesia to work on her first documentary . During this time she took part in the German-Polish project Sąsiedzi PL-DE, which resulted in the short film Ida nazod , which was shown in 2011 at the “Planete Doc Festival” in Warsaw.

The documentary Schlesiengrube, a local history celebrated its premiere in 2013 at the RegioFun film festival in Katowice and was shown in the competition at the 2014 Neisse Film Festival .

She has lived in the southern Harz region with her husband, the musician and filmmaker Oliver Ziegler , since 2013 . She works as a freelance actress for film and theater and realizes theater, film and music projects together with her husband.
