Olof Strömsten

Olof Strömsten (born January 12, 1909 , † 1959 ) was a Finnish football and bandy player .

Strömsten began his career at KIF Helsinki , with whom he played from 1930 in the newly founded Mestaruussarja , the top division of Finland. Here he became the first top scorer in this league together with Holger Salin from Helsingfors IFK . For the 1932 season he moved to the league and local competitor Helsingfors IFK (HIFK). In 1933 he won the championship with HIFK and contributed 18 goals in 14 games, making him top scorer for the second time. In the following season HIFK was runner-up, Strömsten was again top scorer with 15 goals. After another runner-up in 1935, he won the Finnish championship title for the second time in 1937. He scored a total of 102 goals in the Mestaruussarja between 1930 and 1939.

Strömsten made his debut for the Finnish national team in 1929 against Denmark (8-0 defeat). In a total of seven international matches he scored three goals, which he scored in 1931 against Estonia (3-1 win, one goal) and Denmark (3-2 win, two goals).

In winter Olof Strömstenm played Bandy for HIFK. From 1929 to 1945 he played 72 championship games and scored 80 goals. During this time he was five times Finnish champion and four times Finnish runner-up. For the national team he completed five A-internationals and two B-internationals.
