Holger Salin

Holger Salin (born September 18, 1911 , † 1943 or 1944 ) was a Finnish football player .

Salin played for Helsingfors IFK . For this club he scored 101 goals in 136 games in Mestaruussarja and won the Finnish championship in 1930, 1931, 1934 and 1937. In 1930 he was together with Olof Strömsten from Kronohagens IF the first top scorer of the newly introduced Mestaruussarja. In 1931 he was again top scorer with eleven goals in seven games.

For the Finnish national team , Salin completed 22 international matches between 1931 and 1943, scoring four goals. He played his last international match on October 3, 1943 against Sweden (1: 1).

Salin fell after this international match in 1943 or 1944 at the age of 32 in the Continuation War .
