Oluf Wold-Torne (born November 7, 1867 in Son, † March 19, 1919 in Kristiania ) was a Norwegian painter .

Life

He spent his youth in Hølen . In 1883 he became a student of Wilhelm Krogh. From 1887 he attended the royal drawing school in Kristiania under Wilhelm Holter, Wilhelm Peters and Mathias Skeibrok . In 1889 he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen with Johan Frederik Vermehren . In 1891 he became a student of Erik Werenskiold and Eilif Peterssen in Kristiania , but after four months he switched to Kristian Zahrtmann's free painting school in Copenhagen. He then studied in Paris with Fernand Cormon and Alfred Philippe Roll . Thanks to the Prix de Rome, he attended the French Academy in Rome in 1895 and Florence in 1896.

In 1897 he designed banknotes for the Norwegian State Bank. In 1899 his first solo exhibition took place in Høstutstillingen. From 1907 to 1910 he designed ornamental paintings for the porcelain manufactory Porsgrunds Porselænfabrik.

From 1912 to 1917 he was a teacher at the royal drawing school in Kristiania, which he once attended.

In 1905 he became an honorary member of the Krefeld Artists' Association. In 1910 he became a co-founder and from 1911 to 1912 Vice President of the Kunstnerforbundet.
