Olympe de Gouges Prize

The Olympe de Gouges- Prize since 2001 by the Social Democratic Women Association for the freedom rights of women and for the Hessen-South in recognition of the use of people and institutions equality awarded the sexes. The initiator of the award was Ulli Nissen , the idea for this came up in 1999.

Award winners

  • 2017: Irmela Mensah-Schramm - Awarded for her courageous and courageous demeanor over decades with "Joke & Spray Can" against racist and right-wing extremist slogans, stickers and graffiti.
  • 2016:  Gabriele Kemmler - Awarded for her outstanding, decades-long work at the Women's Health Center in Frankfurt, where she took on the taboo subjects of “loss of a child” and “traumatic birth experiences” and helped many women to come to terms with their stroke of fate, to deal with it and again to find life.
  • 2015: Ortrud Georg-Pathe - First chairwoman of the Mutter-Kind-Heim Preungesheim e. V. It was awarded for the outstanding work of the Preungesheim mother and child home. V. , through whose support not school-age children can be accommodated in the Preungesheim correctional facility together with their mothers, so that mothers can develop a good relationship with their children in a child-friendly environment, even under the difficult conditions of prison.
  • 2013: Semiya Şimşek - writer ( Painful Homeland - Germany and the murder of my father ). She was honored on August 18, 2013 for her speech at the central commemoration ceremony for the victims of the NSU terrorist group on February 23, 2012 in the Konzerthaus Berlin . As the daughter of the first NSU victim, Enver Şimşek , Şimşek described the situation of the relatives of the murder victims.

  • 2008: Serap Çileli - women's rights activist and writer of Turkish origin. She was honored for her courageous and fearlessly defending her positions and not holding back her opinion even when threatened.
  • 2006: Contact point for women who have committed offenses of the AWO and support association for the point of contact for women who have committed offenses - You were recognized for your outstanding and committed work with and for women who have committed offenses.
  • 2003: Women's Music Office - network for women musicians. The women's music office was recognized for its good and important work as a networking and further education institution for musicians in the pop music field.
  • 2002: Gertrud Mehrens - founding member and chairwoman of the board of FIM - Frauenrecht ist Menschenrecht e. V. She was honored for her more than 20 years of voluntary work for women's rights.
  • 2001: Martin Kessel - managing director of Contragest GmbH . He was recognized for redistributing Mifegyne .
