The individual competition in rhythmic gymnastics at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from August 9 to 11, 2012 at Wembley Arena . A total of 24 athletes competed.

The competition consisted of a qualifying round and the final. In the qualification, each participant competed on the four devices (ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon); the individual ratings were added to an overall grade. The ten best athletes qualified for the final.

Yevgenia Kanajewa succeeded the first title defense in Olympic history.
Kanajewa's victory was the fourth Russian victory in a row in this discipline, at the same time it was the second Russian double victory after 2004.
