Caroline Weber
Caroline Weber (born May 31, 1986 in Dornbirn ) is a former Austrian gymnast . She qualified twice for the Olympic Games and reached the device finals of the best eight at the EM 2011 and the EM 2013. She is the most successful gymnast in the history of the Austrian Association for Gymnastics .
National dominance
Caroline Weber began in 1993 in the gymnastics club in Dornbirn with rhythmic gymnastics. In 1996 she qualified for the Vorarlberg regional squad. She graduated from the sports high school in Dornbirn and was accepted as a professional athlete in the army performance center of the Austrian Armed Forces in 2006. Caroline Weber won a total of 55 Austrian national championship titles: the all-around title and all four handheld devices ten times in a row from 2003 to 2012, furthermore gold in group competitions in 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2007 as well as in team competitions in 2012. Caroline Weber was Vorarlberger Sportswoman of the year three times . A jury of experts from the editorial offices of Vorarlberger Nachrichten and ORF , in cooperation with a selection of celebrities, awarded her the best female athlete in the state in 2004, 2008 and 2009 .
Connection to the world's best
In October 2003 Lucia Egermann (formerly Lucia Ivanova or Gencheva) took over the role of regional coach in the Vorarlberg gymnastics association , and one year later she became the Austrian national coach. Egermann's commitment was to provide the decisive impetus for Caroline Weber's career. Lucia Egermann had been a top gymnast herself in her youth in Bulgaria. As a coach she was in charge of the South Korean national team in 1996, and in 1997 she was the individual national coach in Egypt. Engagements in Japan, Argentina and Canada followed before she came to Austria.
International placements
Supervised by Lucia Egermann, Caroline Weber qualified for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing with a series of consistent top performances in the top international field . She achieved her career goal and was Vorarlberg's only Olympic participant in 2008 , alongside fencer Roland Schlosser . At the 2011 World Championships in Montpellier , she reached 15th place in the all-around final and qualified for the 2012 Olympics with this performance . In the international scene, Caroline Weber was one of the few gymnasts in Western and Central Europe who are among the best in the world, because rhythmic gymnastics is dominated by the Eastern European countries.
In Caroline Weber's international balance sheet, up to the end of her career after the 2013 European Championship in Vienna, eleven European Championship participations, seven World Cup starts and numerous top placements in the Grand Prix series can be found.
