Bernhard Ludwig Buchbinder (born July 7 or September 20, 1849 in Budapest , Austrian Empire ; died June 24, 1922 in Vienna ), pseudonym Gustav Klinger , was an Austro-Hungarian actor, journalist and writer. His best-known operetta libretto is Die Försterchristl .

Life

Bernhard Buchbinder's date of birth is given as July 7th in the examination book, whereas in the hometown it is given as September 20th, 1849. At first he was an actor, then he published the humorous and fictional weekly Das kleine Journal in Budapest . He moved to Vienna in 1887 and lived here as a columnist, including writing for the Neue Wiener Journal . In addition to his journalistic activities, Buchbinder wrote novels, folk plays and especially operetta libretti in Viennese flavor.

In 1955, Buchbindergasse in Vienna- Hietzing (13th district) was named after him.
