Charles Weinberger
Karl Rudolf Michael "Charles" Weinberger (also called Carl Weinberger ; born April 3, 1861 in Vienna ; † November 1, 1939 ibid) was an Austrian operetta composer .
Life
His mother Helene Weinberger (* 1839 , † December 5, 1898 in Abbazia ; from 1883 wife of Hugo Wittmann , 1839–1923) was a successful Offenbach singer at the Carltheater after her engagement at the Hofburgtheater .
Weinberger was President of the Austrian Composers ' Union from 1922 to 1925 , when it lost both chairmen Heinrich Reinhardt and Carl Michael Ziehrer in a difficult time .
His grave is on the Matzleinsdorf Evangelical Cemetery (Wall group on the left, number 134). In 1955 Weinbergerplatz in Vienna- Hietzing was named after him.
