Heinrich Reinhardt (born April 13, 1865 in Pressburg , Austrian Empire , † January 31, 1922 in Vienna ) was a successful Austrian operetta composer from the beginning of the 20th century.

Life

He studied at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna . Anton Bruckner was one of his teachers . As an outstanding pianist and organist, he turned to composition. He composed songs and salon music , which was soon followed by two operas. With the world premiere of the operetta “Das Süße Mädel” on October 25, 1901 at the Carltheater in Vienna , he initiated the transition from the “ golden ” to the “ silverera of the operetta.

Reinhardt also worked as a music writer and critic . From 1914 to 1922 he was President of the Austrian Composers Association .
