Julius Linder

Julius Linder (born April 5, 1878 in Gothenburg , † August 1, 1942 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAP ). Linder was a member of the Vienna City Council and City Council in Vienna.

Linder came to Vienna as a three year old. After elementary and civil school, he attended the commercial academy and then worked as a traveling salesman in the Orient . He then joined the Singer sewing machine factory , where he worked his way up to becoming managing director. After leaving the sewing machine factory in 1909, Linder worked for 19 years as sales director in the Hammerbrotwerke .

Linder joined the Social Democratic Labor Party in 1901 and was elected deputy district chairman in Währing in 1908 . In 1914 he was elected chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Währing, and in 1916 he was appointed to the rent commission by Mayor Richard Weiskirchner . After Linder was appointed to the provisional Vienna City Council in December 1918 , of which he was a member until 1934, Linder represented the Social Democrats in the city senate between 1919 and 1920. After the death of Franz Siegel on October 30, 1927, Linder moved up to the Seitz II city senate and took over the department for general administrative matters as the new city councilor from Karl Richter . In 1932 he moved to the Seitz III city senate as a city councilor in the food and economic affairs department. When the Austrian Civil War broke out , Linder was imprisoned. After his release, he lived secluded in his apartment in Währing (Hofstattgasse 8).

Linder was married twice, from his first marriage there are two sons and two daughters, as well as a daughter from his second marriage. After his death, Linder was buried in an urn in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall (Department 1, Ring 2, Group 6, Number 9).
