The Olympus of Lesbos ( Greek Όλυμπος Λέσβου (m. Sg.)) Is a mountain in the south of Lesbos with a maximum height of 967 m above sea level . The main peak Profitis Ilias (Προφήτης Ηλίας) is surrounded by other, lower peaks such as the Skotino (όρος Σκοτεινό - darkness, 914 m), Psilokoundouno (Ψηλοκούδουνο), Soroko (Σορόκο) and others. It forms an extensive mountain range between Geras (Δήμος Γέρας) in the east and the plain of Polichnitos (Πολιχνίτος) in the west, and the area around the Evergetoulas river in the north to the coast of Plomari (Πλωμάρι) in the south.

The Olympos is a limestone massif and over and over wooded with Calabrian pine , chestnuts and a smaller population of black pines west of the Skoteino summit as well as maquis vegetation. The fauna of the mountains is comparable to that of other islands in the Aegean Sea , in addition the wild boar was introduced and there are deer that were released into the wild in the 1990s. The most important brooks that arise in the Olympos are the Evergetoulas (Ευεργέτουλας), which flows into the Bay of Geras , the Vouvaris (Βούβαρης) (to the Bay of Kallonis (Κόλπδς Καλλονής)) ​​and the mountain river Sedανος inεountas (sichανς pours after flowing through the place Plomari .
