Omid Kordestani
Omid Kordestani ( ; * 1963 in Tehran ) is an Iranian - American computer scientist and entrepreneur . Since October 2015 he has been Executive Chairman of Twitter Inc.
Life
Omid Kordestani was born the son of an Iranian family in pre-revolutionary Tehran, where he attended an Italian - Catholic school. After the death of his father, he emigrated to the United States in 1977 . He now lives in Atherton , California .
Kordestani graduated in electrical engineering at San Jose State University and then worked as an engineer for Hewlett-Packard . In 1991 he earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business .
Kordestani has a long history in the technology industry. He worked at Netscape , among others, and was responsible for collaborations with AOL , Amazon , Citibank , Intel and others. He joined Google in 1999 as the company's founder and has been with the company ever since. Until 2014 he was responsible as a management consultant. From July 2014 to August 2015, he was Chief Business Officer and Vice President at Google.
According to Google, Kordestani is responsible for the company's record financial and economic success, among other things.
On October 14, 2015, the short message service Twitter announced that Omid Kordestani would take over the position of Executive Chairman.
