One Worldwide Plaza is the name of a skyscraper in New York City . The building is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city.
The 50-storey structure was completed in 1989 after three years of construction. With a height of 237 meters, it is currently the 26th tallest building in New York City (as of February 2017). One Worldwide Plaza is located in Manhattan on Eight Avenue and is part of a three-building complex called Worldwide Plaza . However, the other two houses are lower. The One Worldwide Plaza alone has a usable area of 139,000 square meters which is spread over 50 floors above ground and which, apart from a few technical facilities, are only used for office space. All floors can be reached by means of 26 elevators that run in the inner core of the building. The building was designed by the well-known American architect David Childs (from Skidmore, Owings and Merrill ), who was also responsible for the planning of the new One World Trade Center and the 7 World Trade Center at Ground Zero . The architecture of the high-rise is characterized in particular by its pyramid-like tapering roof, which sits on a structure with a square floor plan and also contrasts with the rest of the building in terms of color. Due to the roof design and the brownish granite exterior facade, it is particularly noticeable in the Midtown Manhattan skyline . The load-bearing elements inside and the outer wall are mainly made of steel .
