Opdenhövel's Countdown was a German game show produced by i & u TV in the nobeo Studios Hürth in Cologne. The first edition aired Das Erste on April 12, 2012. The program was moderated by Matthias Opdenhövel . The show was not broadcast live, but recorded live on tape beforehand .

Original gameplay

Four candidates competed in each show for a prize of up to 100,000 euros. In ten different games they had to prove their brains, skills, physical fitness and speed. The common opponent of the players was the time, because in every game there was a countdown, i.e. a given maximum time. A distinction was made between team games and knockout games . In the team rounds, the candidates had to solve a task together, in the knockout rounds they played against each other and one player was always eliminated. In the end it was up to a candidate to crack the jackpot that they had previously fought for.

New gameplay

Four celebrities competed against each other in six action games and five pultr rounds. The winner won 100,000 euros, which were donated to a charitable cause. As part of the 30-second audience countdown, a candidate with special skills challenged the celebrities and had the chance to win 5,000 euros.

Broadcasts

A total of four editions of Opdenhövel's Countdown were broadcast on ARD . Originally, the show was to be continued in autumn 2012 with new episodes, but since the great success did not materialize, it only continued in April 2013. The concept of the show was changed for this, so that only a few elements of the original principle remained. Among other things, celebrities now appeared on the show. In the first edition of the new concept, these were Til Schweiger , Sonja Zietlow , Horst Lichter and Christine Neubauer . In addition, the show's slot was changed. Instead of originally being broadcast on Thursday, it was broadcast on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
