Opuntia joconostle is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet joconostele is derived from the Mexican name for ceree fruits, "Joconostele" or "Xoconochtle". Spanish trivial names are "Joconoxtle", "Tempranilla", "Tuna Blanca" and "Xoconoxtle".

Opuntia joconostle grows like a tree with numerous branches and reaches heights of 2 to 3 meters. The well-trained trunks have a diameter of up to 20 centimeters. The small, bare shoot sections are yellowish green. The uneven thorns emerging from the areoles are whitish.
The flowers are yellow. The almost spherical fruits reach a diameter of up to 2 centimeters.
Distribution and systematics
Opuntia joconostle is widespread in central Mexico on the Altiplano plateau. The first description was made in 1928 by Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber .
