Hermann Memmel

Hermann Memmel (* 7. May 1939 in Munich , † 12. April 2019 ) was a German politician of the SPD . From 1994 to 2008 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament and from 1972 to 2002 honorary Munich City Councilor, before that he was six years on the district committee (city district committee).

Family and work

Memmel was the son of the innkeeper couple Oskar and Gertrud Memmel. He did an apprenticeship in the graphic trade, followed by training as an insurance salesman. For 25 years he was managing partner of VKM-Versicherungskontor GmbH Munich. He was married and had two sons and six grandchildren.

Memmel became a member of the SPD in 1959 and was chairman of the Munich 9 district association ( Ramersdorf-Perlach , Trudering-Riem ) for almost 30 years until 2000 . In 2008 the SPD members elected him honorary chairman.
From 1972 to 2002 he was an honorary city ​​councilor of Munich . He was deputy leader of the SPD parliamentary group and parliamentary group spokesman for business and sport. In 1973, as a Munich city councilor, he applied for the exhibition to be relocated to the airport grounds.
