Golden Ring of Honor of the City of Munich
The City of Munich's Golden Ring of Honor is awarded to personalities who have made outstanding contributions to sport in Munich .
On February 18, 1981, the Munich City Council decided to introduce the Golden Ring of Honor. It is awarded to a maximum of three people per year. The mayor of Munich makes the decision on the award after hearing the council of elders. The ring is made of solid gold and shows, on an onyx plate , a historic Munich city coat of arms .
