Golden Citizen Medal of the City of Munich

The City of Munich awards the Golden Citizen Medal of the City of Munich for excellent services rendered to the community. The city of Munich received approval for this medal on May 31, 1824 by the government of the Isarkkreis, Chamber of the Interior. The medal is awarded by resolution of the city council's general assembly in a closed session.

The medal is made of solid gold and has a diameter of 41 mm. On the front it shows the large Munich city coat of arms with the inscription "Landeshauptstadt München". On the back of the medal is embossed the name of the honoree, the date of the award and the inscription "The deserving citizen" or "The deserving citizen" in raised letters.

In addition, the names of all holders of the Golden Citizens' Medal are entered on plaques of honor in the upper foyer of the Old Town Hall .
