Philipp Brunner , since 1898 Ritter von Brunner (born January 26, 1844 in Volkach ; † July 10, 1919 in Munich ) was a German administrative lawyer and from 1914 to 1918 the last president of the district administrator of Upper Bavaria .

Life

Philipp Brunner was a son of the District Medical Council and royal court doctor in Volkach (Lower Franconia), Dr. Heinrich Brunner (* 1817), and his wife Katharina geb. from Lichtenthal. In 1861 he passed the Abitur examination at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich with an overall grade of "I", with Max von Gietl and Georg Friedrich Knapp , among others . He then studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1862 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Munich . As an inactive , he moved to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . From 1873 he was a magistrate in Munich. From 1893 to 1914 he was the second legally qualified mayor . From 1914 to 1918 he was the last President of the District Administrator of Upper Bavaria , which today corresponds to the office of District Assembly President . He was married to Anna Fischer.

Brunner was an honorary doctor of medicine (Dr. med. Hc) and a privy councilor. When he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown , Luitpold of Bavaria raised him to the personal nobility in 1898 . He was allowed to call himself "Knight von Brunner" after his entry in the nobility register . In 1911 he received the commander of this order. Since 1912 he was also Knight II Class of the Order of Merit of St. Michael . The city of Traunstein made him an honorary citizen on November 2, 1900 . On the occasion of his 40th anniversary in service, he received the Golden Citizen Medal of the City of Munich in 1913 .
