Josef Mederer

Josef Mederer (born January 26, 1949 in Altomünster ) is a German politician of the CSU . Since 2008 he has been President of the District Assembly of Upper Bavaria . From 2013 to 2018 he was also President of the Bavarian District Assembly, the municipal umbrella association of the seven Bavarian districts .

Life

Mederer completed a craft training from 1963 and then worked as a skilled worker at Maierbräu in Altomünster until 1972 . active. After a distance learning at the Telekolleg a career change followed in the public administration with activities at the district office Dachau, in the city of Dachau (1974–1979) and as administrative manager of the community Schwabhausen (1979–1993). Josef Mederer is married and lives in Altomünster. He has two grown children and four grandchildren.

Political career

Local politics

From 1993 to November 2011 he was mayor of the community of Schwabhausen , where he had previously been head of administration since 1979. He has been a member of the district council of the Dachau district since 1990.

District of Upper Bavaria

Mederer was first elected to the district assembly of Upper Bavaria in 1998 and was its vice-president from 2000 to 2008. Since 2008 he has been President of the District Assembly of Upper Bavaria and thus, by virtue of his office, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospitals in the Upper Bavaria District , a municipal company. From 2013 to 2018 he was also President of the Bavarian District Assembly . Mederer was always directly elected for the Dachau constituency.

Honorary positions

He holds several other honorary posts, including a member of the State Monument Council from 2000 to 2018 . In 2001 he was the deputy district association chairman and a member of the state board of the Bavarian Red Cross (also from 2001). Furthermore, he was involved in the board of the Kolping Society for many years .
