Career

Klimm was born the son of a surveyor and grew up in Freising . He spent his high school in a boarding school in Rosenheim , where he also received musical support. In 1933 he passed the school leaving examination. After the compulsory labor service in Benediktbeuern , he studied ancient languages in Munich and, on the advice of a ministerial councilor, also studied music because there was a lack of music teachers in Bavaria. After the teaching examination, he came to Münnerstadt . In 1938 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . During the Russian campaign , he was seriously injured in a lung shot. Hospital stays followed. Towards the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Americans. Because of his injuries he was soon released and returned to Freising, where he became a music teacher at the Dom-Gymnasium . The school remained a professional place of activity until his retirement.

Encouraged by City Councilor Warmuth, Klimm was elected to the Freising City Council and soon became the city's second mayor. In the mayor election in 1970, however, he could not prevail against Adolf Schäfer (SPD).

Klimm was also elected to the district assembly of Upper Bavaria . From 1966 to 1986 he was its president. During his tenure, the Glentleiten and Amerang open-air museums were established. He significantly influenced the establishment of a full chair for child and adolescent psychiatry at the Medical Faculty of the University of Munich .

He was an honorary member of the Isaria Freising Catholic student association .
