Opuntia ritteri is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet ritteri honors the German cactus specialist Friedrich Ritter .
description
Opuntia ritteri grows like a tree. The light green, downy shoot sections are circular. The round areoles are close together. There are several upwardly directed yellowish thorns 1 to 1.5 centimeters in length.
The large flowers are light red. Nothing is known about the fruit .
Distribution and systematics
Opuntia ritteri is common in the Mexican state of Zacatecas .
