Oral was an English new wave of British heavy metal and punk band from London , which was founded in the mid-1980s and split up around 1985.

history

The band was founded in the mid-1980s by four women who had previously worked in various professions in the sex industry . After the six-song EP Sex was released on Conquest Records in 1985 , bassist Candy left the group. The band then broke up a little later, although they had never given a gig. In 1993 the band was on the four-CD sampler Metal Masters (the parts of which were also sold individually) with the Sex Pistols Cover Black Leather (on volume four ) and the song Head (on volume three ).

style

Malc Macmillan wrote in The NWOBHM Encyclopedia that the songs in the EP were about sex and were provocative. He did not fully share the opinion of the music press, such as the Kerrang that had panned the band. He prefers the music to that of Metal Virgins. Overall, however, the songs are kept primitive and are very similar to each other. so he would prefer rock goddess or girl school music . Both Macmillan and Matthias Mader from Rock Hard weren't sure whether Oral's music and lyrics were serious. According to Mader, Oral can be seen as a precursor to bands like The Great Kat , Genitorturers, and Rockbitch . The EP is a mixture of punk and metal . Monica Ramone was influenced by Steve Jones and groups like the Ramones , The Vibrators , The Blood , AC / DC and Blue Öyster Cult .
