Grand Cross of the Order of Honor

The Order of Honor ( Greek : Τάγμα Αριστείας της Τιμής) was founded on August 18, 1975 after the end of the monarchy as a replacement for the Order of George I by the Greek President Konstantinos Tsatsos by law 106/1975 and is donated to nationals and foreigners awarded who have rendered services to the Republic of Greece in the fields of public administration, trade and industry, science and the arts .

Classes

The order consists of five classes.

Order decoration

The medal is a silver gold-plated cross with dark blue enameled cross arms. In the medallion the stylized head of Athena turned to the left . The medallion is surrounded by a white enameled ring with the inscription Ο ΑΓΑΘΟΣ ΜΟΝΟΣ ΤΙΜΗΤΕΟΣ (Only the righteous are rewarded). On the reverse the coat of arms of the Republic with the surrounding inscription ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ 1975 (Greek Republic 1975). The decoration of the knight's cross is without gilding.

Carrying method

The Grand Cross is carried on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip, as well as with an eight-pointed silver breast star on which the medal is placed. Grand officers and commanders wear the decoration as a neck medal , grand officers also wear the breast star. Officer and knight decorate the cross on the ribbon on the left side of the chest.

The ribbon is dark blue with a golden yellow side stripe.

Others

The Order of Honor ranks second in the Greek system of orders and the President is the Grand Master of the Order.
