Oreocereus pseudofossulatus is a species of plant in the genus Oreocereus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Oreocereus pseudofossulatus grows shrubby, branching irregularly in the lower half and reaching heights of up to 2 meters. The light green shoots have a diameter of 5 to 8 centimeters. There are 10 to 13 straight and tubercular ribs . The thorns are straw yellow or rarely reddish. The single, conspicuous, 2 to 5 centimeters long central spine is initially protruding and later directed a little downwards. The 10 to 14 radial spines are up to 6 millimeters long.
The tubular, crooked, greenish pink to bluish red flowers appear near the shoot tips and are up to 9 centimeters long. The ellipsoidal, greenish yellow to brownish red fruits are fleshy and do not tear open.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Oreocereus pseudofossulatus is widespread in the Bolivian department of La Paz in the Puna vegetation at altitudes of 2900 to 3300 meters.
The nomenclature correct first description was made in 1991 by David Richard Hunt .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Near Threatened (NT)", d. H. listed as low risk.
