Ornithogalum arabic , also Arab Milchstern called, is a plant from the family of asparagus plants (Asparagaceae).

description

Ornithogalum arabicum is a perennial , herbaceous onion plant that reaches heights of 30 to 80 centimeters. The plant is vigorous. The onion develops numerous offshoots. The leaves at the base are 10 to 30 millimeters wide, shiny and have no white central stripe.

The grape is dense, trugdoldig and 6- to 25-flowered. The lower flower stalks are 80 to 100 millimeters long. The petals are 15 to 32 millimeters in size, triangular and have no green central stripe. The ovary is blue-violet. The capsules are a little winged.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36, 46, 50 or 51.

Occurrence

Ornithogalum arabicum occurs in the Mediterranean area.
