The Ornumer Noor ( Danish Ornum Nor ) is located a little east of Missunde in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in southern Schleswig (Schleswig-Holstein). It is the narrowest of the side bays of the Schlei known as Noore with a very narrow, only a few meters wide mouth. The name goes back to the nearby Ornum estate.
The Noor lies in a natural channel from the Weichsel period . The mouth of the tributary, the Koseler Au, is largely silted up. With 1 to 2 ‰, the water has roughly the same salt content as the Schlei near Missunde.
The Noor and the lower reaches of the Koseler Au are important spawning waters for various freshwater fish species living in the Schlei (pike, perch, eel, brasche, roach). The fishing rights (right to use a certain stretch of water) have been with Gut Ornum since 1789.
