The carapace arum ( Orobanche artemisiae-campestris Vaucher ex Gaudin , Syn .: Orobanche loricata Rchb. ), Also known as mugwort arum , is a plant species from the genus of arum ( Orobanche ) in the family of arum plants (Orobanchaceae).

The Panzer Sommerwurz is a parasitic plant 8 to 40 cm high . It parasitizes on the sagebrush ( Artemisia campestris ). The stem is mostly brownish, sometimes tinged with purple and darker than the crown .

The bracts are somewhat as long as the lower lip of the crown. The calyx consists of two free-standing halves, which are two-toothed and sub-shaped well below the middle. The crown is yellowish white, the scar is brownish purple, the stylus is hairy abundant glandular.

The flowering time is June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 38.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Central Europe, Southern Europe and Morocco. Their distribution area includes Morocco, Portugal, Spain, France and Greece. Within Germany, the species occurs mainly in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. It grows on very warm, gappy dry lawns and prefers dry, nutrient-poor gypsum and shell limestone soils. It occurs in societies of the order Festucetalia valesiacae.
