Orpheus Pass (also known as Orpheus Gate ; Bulgarian Орфеева порта Orpheewa porta ) is a 560 m high and 250 m wide mountain pass in the eastern part of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is part of the overland route from the Balkan Snowfield to the Perunika Glacier area and Mount Friesland and lies between Willan Nunatak in the southeast and the ridge of Burdick Peak in the northwest. The center of the pass is 6.1 km east of Sinemorets Hill .
Bulgarian scientists named the Willan Nunatak as Orpheus Nunatak in 1995 , but then transferred this name to the passport described here in 1996.
